The Yacht Report Group and global communications company MTN will be sponsoring the highlight of the dock social programme - the ‘Western Barbecue’ at The Superyacht Cup Palma. Fancy dress, of course, will be obligatory for all participants, and a prize awarded to the most creative outfit. Cowboys, Indians and Western themed decorations will liven up the regatta village for the first night after racing on Thursday June 24th. The Yacht Report and MTN will be the hosts for the evening, laying on a full Western barbecue and entertainment for all the participants.

Since yacht registration for this year’s regatta opened in the middle of March, interest has been higher than ever, with 22 yachts currently on the list. Most recently, Scorpione Dei Mari (designed by Castro and built by Jongert) confirmed their return, having taken part in 2006, 2007 and 2008. New entries have also been received from P2 (designed by Briand, built by Perini Navi) and Destination Fox Harb’r (designed by Dubois and built by Alloy Yachts).
P2 and Destination Fox Harb’r recently competed in the St Barth’s Bucket and will be heading across the Atlantic to Europe in the next couple of weeks. P2 also took part in The Superyacht Cup in Antigua with her highly experienced and competitive crew taking the racing very seriously, but still following the spirit of the event and enjoying the social programme to the full. It is this combination of good racing and informal social events that has made The Superyacht Cup such a popular regatta over the past 15 years.
Another returning sponsor at silver level is Port Adriano. Port Adriano, on Mallorca’s south-west coast, is undergoing a major redevelopment and extension project. The new marina will incorporate 82 moorings for yachts up to 60m, enlargement of the refit and repair area, and a commercial area designed by world famous designer Philippe Starck. As the first berths will be available in June 2010, Port Adriano are offering participants of The Superyacht Cup free berths for the days prior to and immediately following the regatta. Organisers are very pleased to welcome back Reckmann Yacht Equipment as a silver sponsor. The Hamburg based engineering company, which was founded in 1892, is still leading the industry with their high quality products, most notably, hydraulics and reefing systems. Reckmann has a close involvement with many of the superyachts taking part. Seeing their products in action onboard, as well as maintaining close contact with their clients, are the key reasons for them returning to sponsor The Superyacht Cup.
Captains and Owners Please Note: Berth space on the Superyacht Cup dock is limited to around 18 – 20 and places are filling fast. Yachts wishing to take part are recommended to confirm their entry as soon as possible. Please contact Patrick Whetter or Kate Branagh, Patrick@thesuperyachtcup.com
