André Grossman, Founder of Horus

Exclusive watch company Horus have signed a new three year agreement as a main partner of all Infoma Yacht Group events, including title sponsorship of The Superyacht Cup, the longest running superyacht regatta in Europe. The Horus Superyacht Cup will be held from June 24th – 27th in Palma, Mallorca.

Former avionics engineer André Grossmann is the creator of the Horus time wear brand: "This partnership is above all a real commitment. The Informa Yacht Group organise exclusive and top quality yachting events all around the world. These special events gather high-profile individuals who look for the finest things and the most innovative and creative products. To be associated with such an organisation gives us access to the most prestigious marketing platform in the world of yachting. The locations where the different events take place - including Abu Dhabi, Monaco and Palma, are welcoming and proactive cities who work hard to develop and promote their destination to high-end tourism."

"We are absolutely delighted to have Horus as a main sponsor for the group," said Andy Treadwell, IYG's Managing Director.  "We are actively seeking truly international partners, with exclusive and world-leading brands, who are interested in supporting our events in all the different areas where we currently operate. Horus are a very dynamic and ambitious new company in their sector, and we love their enthusiasm and approach. As with the Abu Dhabi Yacht Show, we are researching several new projects at the moment in areas where we believe there is a lot of potential to develop high-end events for the future. To do this, we need to have the right business partners on board."

SHIP EQUIP RENEW SPONSORSHIP

Image

Ship Equip, the fastest growing maritime broadband provider, have renewed their sponsorship of The Superyacht Cup for a second year.

“The technology available for yachts over the past few years has to some extent changed life on-board, allowing broadband, telephone and TV at virtually all times, enabling owners to be able to conduct business and captains to efficiently manage the yachts’ time. Communication improvements and reductions in costs have also significantly contributed to increasing the charter market. Ship Equip can not only install and service the equipment onboard but also continually manage efficient operating procedures to keep costs under control and offer complete flexibility for owners or charter guests”, explained Kerry Pettit, head of yacht and leisure solutions for Ship Equip. “In today’s market everyone is looking at efficiency and ways to cut costs, we know we can provide flexible packages that take in to account a yacht’s programme, offering increased capacity during a charter or when an owner is onboard and reducing the bandwidth when the yacht no longer needs such a high bandwidth solution.”

Ship Equip have recently signed a 6-year agreement for purchase of 3 transponders on the T11N Telesat satellite that will enable them to provide broadband to up to 2000 vessels through Ship Equip’s maritime broadband solution SEVSAT. This new venture will considerably increase Ship Equip’s capacity and coverage, especially over such areas as mid Atlantic and the Caribbean. LATEST ENTRIES

The latest yacht to confirm attendance at The Horus Superyacht Cup is the 44.7m ketch Mari-Cha III, designed by Philippe Briand and built by Sensation Yachts in 1997. This high performance super maxi held the Transatlantic record in 1998 completing a crossing from New York to The Lizard in 8 days, 23 hours, 59 minutes and 41 seconds. The yacht combines high performance sailing with a stunning interior designed by John Munford, the ideal combination for cruising in luxury and style. In 2008, the former Mari Cha IV (renamed Senso One) took part, but this will be Mari Cha III’s first outing at the Palma regatta.

The Mallorca based Wally 80 Open Season has also confirmed they will be entering again this year. Open Season, who has a busy racing schedule planned for the summer season, will be taking part in their 3rd Superyacht Cup.
